Santa at the Mall

Santa at the Mall

or, God Help Us Every One

I'm a little late posting this, what with having to get the blog up and running and all, but still - it's moments like these that are worth remembering -  so here's my journal entry from December 22, 2007...

Well, my husband (aka The Wiz) and his son have gone Christmas shopping, and to take the grandchild to see Santa at the Mall. The poor sods have NO idea what they are letting themselves in for, but I applaud their innocent desire to give the kid a treat. You will note that mom and grandmothers did NOT offer to take him, as we are well aware of the Hell that is the season of joy and giving at the Mall...they will be in FOUL moods when they finally get home. I'm glad they are way across town, as my husband will have time to decompress on his way home.

Meanwhile, I am getting his presents wrapped as he listens to canned Christmas musak and shifts from foot to foot, waiting in an endless line of snot-nosed sticky-fingered kids strung out on candy canes the elves are passing out - unable to smoke and gagging on the aromas of Cinnabons mixed with Panda Express, Baja Fresh, frankincense and myrrh. Tra la la.

I have decided to take myself out to my favorite Vietnamese place because there is NO WAY he will be arriving home any time soon enough to eat dinner - and we eat LATE!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

You make an excellent argument against being in any way associated with kidlets, who are simply resource gluttons in the best case scenario. However, your argument regarding the gluttonous writers is not as compelling. (Have submitted comments via your hubby's BLOG regarding this issue.) All best Holiday Season wishes, with special blessings considered for the beneficient Sara Lee!
