The Wiz is miffed.

    He has read Chatty’s post about The Grocery List and wants to point out that he couldn’t care less could not be bothered foresaw the pitfalls of attempting to purchase the items Chatty had on her list.

    For those of you who were absent from class that day, let’s review: Chatty wanted a cucumber, French bread, a head of lettuce, and blueberries.

    The Wiz looked pointedly at Chatty and intoned:

    "It didn’t say a cucumber. It said cucumbers. How was I supposed to know how many cucumbers to buy? 6? 15? 23?"

    He has a point. Chatty MAY have written "cucumbers", because they were on sale 2 for a dollar. But 23? Who buys 23 cucumbers for a two-person household?

    He continued sternly.

    "A head of lettuce. What KIND of lettuce?"

    Again, true. Chatty was going to buy whatever was on sale.

    "Blueberries? I don’t like blueberries."

    Also true.

    "And I bought French bread."

    Yes, but only because that’s what he wanted.

    Here’s what actually happened, Chatty is sure. Sprouts, the market Chatty had put at the top of the list in big letters, does not carry the brand of potato chips The Wiz favors. It is a natural food store, with natural food brands - and natural potato chips are not on the list of "things that The Wiz favors". In fact, The Wiz rarely goes there except to buy one of their fabulous sandwiches. The Wiz wanted potato chips - and Sprouts does not have the "right" potato chips. Ergo, The Wiz was not about to go to Sprouts.

    Chatty understands all of this.

    Where The Wiz made his mistake was in freely offering the information that he had SEEN Chatty’s list, but didn’t buy anything on it.

    Note to The Wiz: Sometimes silence is golden...

    The Wiz has just informed Chatty that he is going to the store again – for more bread (the man loves bread) – and wants to know if Chatty needs anything. If so – and she swears she is not making this up – she should just make him a list!
