Shiny and Era

Well, Tink's Weekly Word Challenge really forced Chatty to put on her thinking cap. The words she assigned us are "shiny" and "era".

For some reason, Chatty had never noticed how shiny some ordinary objects are when viewed for that quality, rather than just their usefulness:

These new quarters are really pretty - and a wonderful tribute to each state - but frankly, sometimes Chatty misses our beautiful eagle, which is why she put him in the middle, even though he's not as new and shiny as the others...

Of course, we all love our shiny cell phones:

And while “Era” is a laundry detergent:

the word "era" also describes other things, like a decade:

The roaring twenties... what a decade THAT was, and an interesting era. In fact, American women got the vote...which eventually led to interesting things in another era - the 1980's, and the fight to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment...

It was during this era of campaigning for the E.R.A. that we learned having the vote was not enough to assure equality...

So now, we're all back in the kitchen (and the laundry room), with a detergent to remind us of how near we came, and how far we still have to go...
