Remembrance
I came across a picture the other day that made me smile in remembrance.
I took it at a very special moment – before I ever dreamed I would actually be blessed to live in Arizona - and seeing the photograph again brought back wonderful memories.
I was lucky enough to have dear relatives who moved here from the Midwest.
When I lived in Los Angeles, I always delighted in my visits to Arizona to see them, and was especially close to my father’s youngest sister and her husband.
When the time came, the children honored their parents’ wish to have their ashes scattered into the wind from the top of the mountain they had both loved to look at from their window every day.
This small, quiet path leads up to the place their daughter and son chose to honor that request, and I was invited to be there as well - because I loved them both dearly, too.
There, we honored two people who had loved one another for over 60 years. It was a wonderful moment, and created an indelible memory.
So, when I found this picture again, I wanted to add something to it – a little “thank you”, if you will, for the way they lived their long and honorable lives – from which I hope I have learned a bit:

A lovely way to remember those who embodied this for you.

I keep remembering the phrase "travelling the dark way with us" "the dark way" is a great term. Did you write this poem? It's very good and I keep coming back to it.
