Brisket for Winston and Scallops for Chatty

For those of you who may not remember (or didn't know), Winston is Chatty's favorite beagle. He loves the artist DeGrazia, his daddy, and food - not necessarily in that order.  He came to dinner with his daddy on Saturday night, to see Chatty's adopted mom and his friends Cleo and Toot - and to meet our visiting Peekapoo princess, Juliette.

A good time was had by all, and much brisket was consumed by everyone except Chatty. Chatty, however, ate most of the potatoes and carrots, so things evened out nicely. Winston knows his way around a kitchen - his daddy is an excellent cook. So to have him leave a comment saying that Chatty's is the best brisket he's ever tasted is praise indeed!

As always, Winston was a perfect gentleman all evening. Chatty believes he enjoyed being the only male four-legger, and having 3 adoring female four-leggers of varying shapes and sizes following him around all night and fawning over him. The girls were really quite shameless, but how could they resist? Winston is handsome - he has beautiful eyes...

and a gallant attitude - especially with dogs smaller than himself. He doesn't step on them, for instance. He doesn't try to steal their food, and he lets them go out the door first. Before she met The Wiz, Chatty dated quite a few two-leggers whose manners weren't nearly as good as Winston's!

He deserved every piece of brisket he got, and is welcome to visit Chatty and The Wiz to cadge for food and shoot the breeze with Cleo and Toot  ANY time. He can feel free to bring his daddy, too, of course.

Chatty's wonderful AM has to leave tomorrow morning. The visit was too short, but we had a great time. AM took Chatty to lunch at her favorite restaurant, The Fish Market, and AM ordered the lobster. It came posed as if sitting up on the plate - looking at her. It was a tad unnerving, but tasted delicious. Chatty had broiled scallops and their wonderful coleslaw and sourdough bread. Then, we splurged even MORE and had dessert. AM got a warm triple fruit crumble, and Chatty inhaled creme brulee. It was divine. The Wiz did not accompany us, much as he loves The Fish Market, because the Cardinals were expected to trounce The Rams (they did) and the Steelers were expected to do likewise to The Cowboys (they did, after a huge comeback in the second half). We brought him some of his favorite sourdough bread and their fantastic clam chowder so he wouldn't miss out entirely.

Then we baked bread, went to look at the Christmas lights, opened our Christmas presents to one another, and watched a cute movie on Lifetime while The Wiz went over to watch "Dexter" with some friends. Chatty and The Wiz are too cheap penny-pinching thrifty to pay for Showtime, so we're happy to have such nice neighbors, who invite him over every Sunday evening.

Chatty is now off to bed, so that she can get up tomorrow to help AM pack the car for her trip home to California.

It sounds like you had a lovely visit with you AM. When I make it down to Arizona to visit you someday, we must go to this restaurant! And Sir Winston has soulful eyes that draw one to him -- no wonder Toot and Cleo adore him (and Chatty, too)!

WINSTON BABY! Our little beagle, sadly, does not like other dogs, likely because she was an abandoned street dog then in a shelter. She loves people though!

Yo, Winston here, I just had the leftovers from last Saturday's "THE BRISKET" dinner. Dios Mio, Mon Dieu "THE BRISKET" that keeps on giving. Not only was it the best brisket, it was the best reheated brisket prepared by my human minion at 300F for two hours with fresh carrots, potatoes and onions. I, "THE BEAGLE" may be in heaven right now after eating "THE BRISKET" AGAIN, but I, "THE BEAGLE" will be back on Earth tomorrow to begin a campaign to share "THE BRISKET KNOWLEDGE" with all of BEAGLEHOOD, TOOTHOOD and CLEOHOOD. We shall form a group to be known as the BRISKET HOODlums. With the power of "THE BRISKET" we may finally be able to bring humanity back to reason. Until then, Long Live "THE BRISKET"!
